NCGIA-Buffalo organized the NIH Webinar@Buffalo on March 7, 2014 in the Center for the Arts on UB campus.
The event was jointly sponsored and co-organized by the Office of Vice President for Research and Economic Development, and the Office of Research Advancement at UB.
The webinar featured Dr. Patty Mabry, the Acting Deputy Director in the Office of Social and Behavioral Sciences Research at NIH,
and program officers Drs. Greg Bloss, David Clark, Bethany Deeds, Elizabeth Ginexi, Regina Bures from five NIH institutes (NCI, NICHD, NIDA, NIAAA, and NIDCR) to discuss funding opportunities for social and behavioral sciences at NIH.
Dr. Mabry opened the webinar by a systematic overview of current funding opportunities for social, computational, and health science researchers.
In the following Q&A interactive session, the six NIH officers responded to proposal ideas and other questions from the audience.
More than 80 researchers from 11 UB schools registered to participate in the webinar (Architecture and Planning, Arts and Sciences, Dental Medicine, Engineering and Applied Sciences,
Graduate School of Education, Management, Medicine and Biostatistical Sciences, Nursing, Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Public Health and Health Professions, and Social Work).
After the webinar, researchers gathered in several groups to discuss potential collaborations to prepare NIH grant proposals.
