Geographic InformationScience (GI Science) is a fast growing,
multidisciplinary field of study. As one of the three original
sites of the National Center for Geographic Information and Analysis,
the University at Buffalo is a national leader in the GI
Science field.
GI Science includes the technology of Geographic Information Systems, the computer
based systems which are the basis of a dynamic $4.2 billion per year industry in the
United States alone. The Geographic Information Systems industry is growing at a phenomenal rate -
estimated at 20% per year - and applications of Geographic Information Science have penetrated
all sectors of business, government, and the scientific community.
Training in Geographic Information Science prepares you for a wide variety of careers
